Grandma’s 7 Layer Bars

INGREDIENTS

SAUCE INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 package (1 ½ cups) graham crackers, crushed
  • 1 bag dark chocolate chips
  • 1 bag butterscotch chips
  • 3/4 cup coconut flakes
  • 1 can (14 ounce) sweet condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Place stick of butter in 9×13-inch backing dish.

STEP 2

Heat oven to 350° F, place dish in oven to melt butter.

STEP 3

Once butter is melted, combine with crushed graham crackers. Spread graham crackers and butter mixture evenly over bottom of pan.

STEP 4

Cover with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut flakes, and nuts. Drizzle milk over the top.

STEP 5

Back at 350° F for 25 minutes uncovered. Cool and cut into bars. 

STORY

This is our family tradition:  My wife cooks these up in late November/early December as a bribe to get the Christmas lights hung up. And it works every time!
