Camino Medical Office Building
(Palo Alto)
This 250,000 SF contemporary medical facility in Mountain View, CA houses more than 130 physician offices for primary and specialty care, 260 exam rooms, 34 procedure rooms, a 20,000 SF outpatient surgery center, a 30,000 SF laboratory and diagnostics radiology center, a comprehensive infusion services department, a 6,000 SF urgent care center, and a 6,000 SF pharmacy. The campus also features a 420,000 SF, 1,100 stall parking structure.
The project was delivered using lean construction techniques designed to maximize overall production value, reduce waste, and maintain the highest quality. Along with lean construction practices, 3D and 4D virtual building models were developed, resulting in a more efficiently delivered project. Early on, the virtual building models, which incorporate the element of time into 3D computer design drawings, helped communicate sequencing issues during design coordination. This project was delivered on the date promised, for the quoted budget two and a half years earlier.
