UC Davis Tupper Hall Laboratory
UC Davis Tupper Hall 4th Floor Laboratory Remodel
The project scope incorporated UC Davis School of Medicine Departments of Human Physiology, Cell Biology, Human Anatomy, and Biological Chemistry and was designed in full compliance with NIH Guidelines for research facilities for funding.
Approximately 8,000 SF of existing laboratories were completely demolished and replaced with new research laboratory floor plan layouts that utilized adjustable modular laboratory casework based upon the Fisher Hamilton “Max Lab” system. Of the twelve laboratories in the scope, one-half were designed as open bay labs by removing demising walls dividing two smaller labs to create a more functional open lab environment.
In addition to office support space, two new Tissue Culture Rooms with HEPA filtration systems and two new Shared Equipment Rooms were created along with Imaging and Patch Clamp Rooms. Two existing Environmental Rooms, a warm room and a cold room were removed and replaced with new facilities. New “hard-lid” ceilings replaced existing lay-in acoustical tile ceilings and additional emergency power was brought into the building from an adjacent emergency generator yard to serve the project.
