Sierra Nevada Brewery

Capital’s broad spectrum of expertise extends beyond HVAC and comfort cooling to include process systems engineering as demonstrated in our latest design of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company’s low temperature glycol chilled water plant.

Brewing fermentation process is exothermic however the key aspect for producing great tasting beer is maintaining a consistent temperature. Through strategic planning with Sierra Nevada, our calculation of the heat process led to the system design that delivers a quality solution befitting the needs of Sierra Nevada for years to come.

The design utilized the low-quality waste heat from the condenser water and returned it to the brewing process. This took load off of the boiler system and recovered heat that normally would have been rejected to the atmosphere.

Sierra Nevada invited Capital back to design their new East Coast brewery in Mills River, North Carolina, which is slated to receive, at minimum, LEED Silver Certification with USGBC.
