Vista del Lago High School: Sacramento, CA
A new high school for Folsom Cordova School District to serve 1,500 students on a 50 acre site, included is a joint use library shared with the City of Folsom. Capital Engineering designed the mechanical systems to perform with energy efficiency in mind. Over 95% of the roof-top AC units meet or exceed Energy Star guidelines for energy efficiency. Spaces such as the Cafeteria, Gymnasium, Library, Instrumental Music and Black Box which vary from day to day or even hour to hour in their air conditioning needs benefit from variable air volume (VAV) air conditioners. VAV control allows the air conditioner to more closely match the cooling and heating demands of the room and thereby save energy. Reductions in cooling capacities for all AC units was possible because of efficient building envelope and lighting systems.
