Green Building Experience
Awareness of sustainable and high performance design concepts and building practices differentiate the average from exceptional consulting engineers. Capital Engineering Consultants, Inc. has made a strong commitment to practice the application of sustainable design to our work and as such has trained many of it’s key firm members in not only LEED" but in good practice relating to "Green" design. Our designs are the results of review and analysis of many factors including Title 24, energy consumption, sustainability, maintenance and operation. In some cases detailed modeling on a life cycle cost basis can be used to scrutinize multiple, viable alternatives, which in turn reduces long-term maintenance and energy costs. The key is looking at the needs of a specific project and how it intends to operate and maintain/staff the facility.

Capital Engineering was on the ground level during the State’s introduction of sustainable building practices by assisting in the review of the California version of the LEED" rating system. Moreover, the Firm participated on a Green Building Task Force for Sacramento’s Capitol Area East End Complex (the State government’s first all green building and prototype for other construction) as well as a "sustainable" peer review team hired by the State to introduce "green building" concepts to a variety of projects, designers and stakeholders. Additionally, several of the firm educational projects have achieved notoriety for high performance/sustainable design including the Truckee Middle School and UC Merced Classroom building.
