Capital Engineering Consultants, Inc. - CECI

If you are looking to build a challenging and rewarding career, you are at the right place! It’s easy to say we are the biggest, oldest, most stable, established mechanical engineering firm in the western United States, but more importantly, we continuously foster a competitive work environment to work, grow, and prosper.

Capital prides itself on the tenure of its staff where the average years of service for the 50 plus employees is over 10 years…quite a remarkable feat in any industry and a testimony for how we value our staff. In addition to offering a competitive salary and benefits package, retention comes from treating everyone with respect, providing opportunities for growth, and advancement.

Capital strives to pay top salary for all staff levels, which is evident by the tenure of the employees. Salaries are reviewed on a yearly basis and adjusted in January. Reviews are based on face-to-face employee meetings to discuss progress toward past performance goals and opportunities for increasing their value to the firm as well as wages. Our goal is to help every one of our staff succeed, which in turn reaps rewards for everyone.

We also strive to recognize our hard working employees with yearly discretionary merit bonuses. We place a great deal of emphasis on our benefits package, which we believe is peerless in this industry. We periodically poll our clients and collaborating design professionals to see what packages they are offering and try to meet or exceed the high norm on all levels.

Every employee at Capital is given the chance to succeed. Advancement is a key indicator of that success so all the staff is encouraged to seek a higher level. There are no barriers at Capital to working your way up. We publish and make available job descriptions for every category of staff so they can see what the requirements of each job is. We also have a formal associate program that recognizes those special individuals who consistently meet or exceed the firm’s core values and whom are nominated for that role by one of their peers or a coworker in the firm.

We give training classes in project management in order to prepare the technical staff for a potential future role in project management.

In addition to the associate program and project manager training, the firm hosts a myriad of “lunch and learns” given by staff who may have recently returned from a conference, where they have picked up as information worth sharing with the rest of the staff, or by manufacturer’s who come in to train or introduce product lines. We built a training room designed to accommodate 20-30 staff and some presenters in a classroom format.

Capital has developed an internal training program labeled "University of Capital", where regular course work is presented in a lecture style with handouts, homework, and testing. The programs such as Plumbing 101 and HVAC 101 consist of multiple sessions with a final exam. Certificates are issued upon passing the course.

We also encourage out-of-house training and we have supported two of our managers in obtaining their masters degrees as well as having sent almost our entire executive team through intensive management training.

We recognize that our employees are our greatest asset and we are all about saying thanks to individuals that go above and beyond the call of duty. Whether through internal advancement opportunities, bonuses for longevity and loyalty to the firm or a simple thank you, efforts are recognized.
